-On April 20, 2004 Speaker of the House Rick Johnson, Michigan State Rep. Judy Emmons, and Michigan Agriculture Commission Member Doug Darling announced the Michigan Farm Leadership Team in Lansing.  Doug Darling of Maybee (Monroe County) chaired the coalition.  He is a partner in Darling Farms, a sesquicentennial farm of 1,100 acres of corn, soybeans, wheat, alfalfa and feeder steers.
 

Also: Two Michigan State University students, Michael Plato and Tim Phelps, headed up an active students effort.
 

-On Feb. 17, 2004, the campaign announced its Michigan County Leadership Team, comprising 114 Bush-Cheney '04 county leaders.
